By understanding Japan's approach, we open the door to new ideas and strategies that can help improve life in the West—and beyond.

Sam Gordon-Webb

Sam is an English Teacher of Japanese Students. He’s not overly intense. He’s unintentionally funny. Sam’s not into the whole “old-school journalist” thing—he’s all about the podcast life.

His fascination with Japan extends beyond its popular culture or technological achievements; he is deeply intrigued by the ways in which Japan’s cultural, social, and philosophical frameworks offer valuable insights for contemporary global discourse. His scholarly inquiry is particularly focused on how Japan’s historical evolution has shaped its modern identity and the societal values that have emerged from it; tofu, coffee, sunglasses, vending machines, bullying, obesity etc.

As a writer, Sam examines how these values—such as resilience, harmony, and meticulous craftsmanship—are interwoven into Japan's social fabric. What lessons does the Land of the Rising Sun have to offer?
